Attending an evening is free - but food and drink is not included.
My Spanish isn't very good - will I know enough to fit in?
The suggested minimum ability level is "lower-intermediate", meaning people who know enough words to put sentences together using a dictionary where needed. There are different ability levels ranging from this through advanced up to fluent, but the best thing to do if you are unsure is simply to come along and try it! Don't worry about making mistakes - the main idea is to enjoy a relaxed fun atmosphere while practising Spanish by speaking and/or listening.
I am very advanced / fluent in Spanish - what will I gain from the evenings?
You can talk to other people about subjects you know about or are interested in, and have some great discussions. There is quite a lot of knowledge about Spain and South & Central America among the regulars, and subjects of conversations shift and develop during an evening and generally tend to cover a wide range of topics. Native Spanish speakers can usually get to know British people who be happy to swap some help and practice with English for the same in Spanish (intercambio).
Who organises the conversation events?
The Spanish conversation events in La Tasca are organised independently, out of personal interest in practising and improving Spanish in a fun informal atmosphere. While they are arranged in good faith, there are no guarantees of any kind but the evenings are increasingly successful with a steadily growing number of people coming along.
